On the morning of 11 November, explosions were heard in Kyiv. “After a prolonged 52-day pause, Russians decided to resume their reckless missile attacks on Kyiv! Following the overnight drone attacks, the invaders also attempted a missile strike on Kyiv this morning”, said Serhiy Popko, the Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Explosions heard in the capital resulted from the work of an anti-aircraft defence system. According to Yuriy Ignat, the spokesperson of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian forces launched ballistic missiles against the Ukrainian capital.

As reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA), at around 08:00, a ballistic air target, presumably an Iskander missile, was launched towards Kyiv. The missile did not reach the capital, as the air defence forces destroyed it en route to the city.

Earlier, in the early hours of 11 November, Russian forces conducted a complex air attack against Ukrainian territory. According to Ukrainian Air Forces, Russians launched Shahed-136/131 drones from Prymorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk in Russia and Cape Chauda in occupied Crimea; Kh-31 guided missile from the Black Sea; P-800 Oniks anti-ship missile from occupied Crimea; guided anti-aircraft S-300 missile from Belgorod (Russia). Ukraine’s Air Force said air defence forces shot down 19 Russian drones. The air raid siren went off around 7 pm on 10 November and lasted until 3 am on the night of 11 November. Additionally,  at around 1:00 local time on 11 November, the Russian Armed Forces shelled the village of Chornobaivka in the Kherson region. As a result of the shelling, a 72-year-old man suffered numerous gunshot and shrapnel wounds and fractures and was hospitalised.

A day earlier, on the evening of 10 November, a larger part of Ukraine’s territory was under an air raid alert. Ukrainian Air Force reported that on the night of 10 November, Russian forces targeted Ukraine with combat UAVs and guided aviation missiles. In total, six Shahed-136/131 drones, one guided aviation missile X-31, and one guided aviation missile X-59 were launched. The Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that five combat UAVs and one guided aviation missile were destroyed in the Dnipro, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Poltava, and Kyiv regions.

Ukrainian military warned residents of the southern, eastern, central, and partially northern regions of Ukraine about an ongoing air strike threat, urging people to take shelter as soon as the siren goes off.
