This incident underscores the ongoing threat posed by Russian forces, who continue to shell the occupied part of the Kherson region, including the regional centre, daily. Additionally, a day earlier, on May 14, Kherson, along with Antonivka, Mykhailivka, and Novooleksandrivka, faced similar attacks, according to the Kherson Regional Military Administration. Russian attacks have damaged both residential areas and a warehouse facility, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of Russian aggression across different regions of Ukraine.
At the same time, on May 15, Mykolaiv was rocked by an explosion, with local authorities confirming two Russian strikes. The explosion ignited a fire at a car service station, which has since been extinguished, while nearby parked cars were also engulfed in flames. As of 16:00 local time, Ukrainian rescuers reported having preliminary information about six injured residents. Earlier, Vitaliy Kim, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, reported five injured individuals, noting that all received outpatient care.

Ukrainian National Police announced that the ongoing evacuation of civilians from the frontline areas of the Kharkiv region continues. Over the past six days, approximately 8,000 individuals have been successfully relocated from the shelling zones to secure locations as Russia intensified its efforts to breach Ukrainian defences in the Kharkiv region. This demographic predominantly consists of women, elderly individuals, people with limited mobility, and children, representing the most vulnerable segments of the population.
