Representatives of the opposition and the United National Movement have held two rounds of negotiations. On 9 October, President Mikhael Saakashvili and the leader of the Georgian Dream coalition and prime-minister designate, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, had a personal meeting. After the meeting, Ivanishvili surprised everyone by saying that the new government would continue the foreign policy of its predecessors despite his pro-Russian sentiments: "We will continue to follow our European path and Georgia will definitely be able to become a NATO member-state soon." Ivanishvili disclosed the names of the future members of his cabinet. Former-football player Kakha Kaladze will be the Minister for Regional Development; Ivanishvili's assistant Irakli Garibashvili will become Minister of the Interior; Ivanishvili's lawyer Archil Kbilashvili will be appointed Prosecutor General. The next month will show whether Ivanishvili & Co. continue President Saakashvili's foreign policy course and reforms.
