Ukrainian political prisoner Pavlo Gryb allowed to see the consul, but after the verdict, as Ukraine’s Ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova said on air of 112 Ukraine.
As she put it, Pavlo Gryb was not allowed to see his mother and the Ukrainian consul. Russia promises to give permission to the meeting with the consul, but only after the verdict. Yet, consular convention signed between Ukraine and Russia does not provide for such refusal.
Denisova assured she would appeal to the representatives of the Council of Europe to get permission for meeting with the consul before the verdict is announced.
“I know that the court did not let his mother to see him, but they will let the consul to see Pavlo after the verdict. This is not provided by the consular convention signed between Ukraine and Russia. This meeting should take place. Today I will meet with the representatives of the Council of Europe,” Denisova said.
Besides, she noted that Putin’s advisor on human rights Mikhail Fedotov stated that Gryb undertook medical examination. According to him, the arrested is in a satisfactory state. However, the court hearing was postponed. Denisova asked the representatives of the diplomatic missions to come to the court session and check Pavlo’s state.
“Yesterday I got a reply from Fedotov. Putin’s advisor said that the examination was done, the doctors say that his state is satisfactory, but the court hearing was postponed on February 18. I asked all the diplomatic mission representatives in Rostov-on-Don to come to the court hearing and look at Pavlo’s state,” she wrote.
Earlier it was reported that a 20-year-old Ukrainian Pavlo Gryb needs heart surgery, his health condition was critical. The detained has symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.
As we reported earlier, Pavlo Gryb is the son of the former Ukrainian border guard Ihor Gryb. The Russian special service detained the 19-year-old boy on August 25, 2017, when he went to Gomel (Belarus) to meet his friend. Later, he was convoyed to Russia. The Russian law enforcers suspect Pavlo Gryb of preparing a terrorist attack at a school in Sochi (a city in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, located on the Black Sea coast, – 112 International).
Russia did not provide the European Court of Human Rights with information about the Ukrainian political prisoner Pavlo Gryb's health status.
