“Any attempts to dictate our conduct are doomed to failure…” he said when reminded of Tymoshenko's release as a condition for the signing of the Association Agreement.
“We are given advice, we are being heard and we are having a dialogue, but I will not link European integration to the fate of Yulia Tymoshenko. During the meetings with European leaders, this issue is, in the best case, the last priority, and I do not want to waste time on answers about this lady,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Premier is convinced that the Association Agreement will be signed in November – thanks to its commercial nature in the first place.
“Most European countries realize the importance of our geo-strategic position. They also know that our eastern partners have an alternative offering us to join the Customs Union. In any case, we will reinforce our relations with them, thanks to which we have 40% of our trade. We will never reject such prospects,” he noted.
EU member-states have stated multiple times that the prospect of signing the Association Agreement with Ukraine depends on Tymoshenko's case.
