Ukrainian Deputy Health Minister Viktor Liashko has said another Ukrainian was hospitalized with suspected coronavirus. "When we went to the briefing, we were informed about one person who had arrived from Poland. He's suspected of being infected, he already has pneumonia," he said at a briefing on Thursday, the RBC-Ukraine media outlet said.
According to Liashko, the doctors have already taken samples for testing. "This is a man of advanced years, a risk group. This is a new suspicion, the most recent… and most likely it will be a case of coronavirus disease," he added. As UNIAN reported earlier, on March 3, the first case of coronavirus infection was confirmed in Ukraine's Chernivtsi. The patient arrived from Italy, the country with the fastest pace of coronavirus spread outside China to date. The man was hospitalized, while his wife, who had also traveled along with the Chernivtsi-based man, was also admitted to a hospital a few days later after a short period of isolation at home. The woman has no symptoms of coronavirus, health officials report. On March 11, the Cabinet of Ministers approved restrictive measures amid the Covid-19 coronavirus threat to prevent the disease from spreading. Measures include a three-week lockdown of all educational institutions.
