According to the President’s press service, the talks involved First Deputy Chief of Staff Andriy Portnov, Justice Minister Olena Lukash, UDAR leader Vitaliy Klitschko, Batkivshchyna faction leader Arseniy Yatseniuk and Svoboda leader Oleh Tyahnybok.
“Yet another round of talks that lasted many hours is over. Opposition leaders were once again told that support to radical actions, occupation of premises and blocking of roads is unacceptable,” Justice Minister Olena Lukash said. “The parties to the meeting agreed to vote for the Law on Amnesty. We insisted that the amnesty would only come into effect if all occupied premises and roads are freed. Otherwise, committed violations will not be subject to amnesty.”
She also said that the January 16 laws dubbed “draconian” would be abolished.
“However, the laws that raise no criticism will once again be passed by parliament tomorrow. Provisions of the laws that will lose effect tomorrow will be worked on by the parties jointly and will meet European standards,” Lukash noted.
“As to returning to the 2004 Constitution, the parties have found that Law No 2222 (the law that cancelled the political reform of 2004 whereby Ukraine switched to the presidential-parliamentary republic – Ed.) is imperfect and stated that they had no personal versions of the Constitution texts. The parties have discussed joint participation in the Constitutional reform and mandatory cooperation with European institutions on this matter. Also, the parties have spoken about referendum procedures. They have agreed to include the issue of the Government’s responsibility on the agenda,” Lukash concluded.
She also stated that Arseniy Yatseniuk did not agree to accept the position of Prime Minister.
