Ukraine to provide new evidence on Ilovaisk tragedy to the Hague

Ukraine also cites facts that may indicate the control of the aggressor country over the occupied territory

Ukraine will soon submit to the International Criminal Court in The Hague a new package of evidence of the crimes of the Russian military during the battles for Ilovaisk. This was stated by the Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Gunduz Mammadov, reports Radio Liberty.

"In the near future we will transfer to the International Criminal Court another package of collected evidence about the commission of war crimes by the Russian military. In particular, new facts of violations by the Russian military leadership of the agreements on the green corridor for the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces near Ilovaisk," he said.

According to Mammadov, Ukraine cites facts that may indicate the control of the aggressor country over the occupied territory.

He added that the last of the news reports related to the extrajudicial executions of Ukrainian servicemen during the battles for Ilovaisk and Debaltseve. It also highlighted the practice of Russia conducting military operations "by someone else's hands", that is, bringing it into the conflict controlled illegal armed formations.

As reported, in the battles for Ilovaisk in August 2014, 220 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were killed, another 40 were missing, 13 fighters were captured by the militants.

On August 29, 2014, while leaving the "green corridor", 129 people were killed, 18 were wounded, and 22 soldiers were missing.
