Russia is again calling a UN Security Council meeting over the Ukrainian language law. "The Russian Federation's delegation has revisited debates on the Ukrainian language law at the UN Security Council. Today, when agreeing the current month's Provisional Programme, such a meeting was set for July 16," Spokesperson for the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN Oleg Nikolenko wrote on Facebook on July 1.
He recalled that the Russian side had already tried to gather a council meeting on the law on Volodymyr Zelensky's inauguration day on May 20. This time, the formal reason is the fact that the law became effective. "Soon we will be seeing another scene of the Theater of the Absurd at the UN Security Council ... All are aware that it is not the language law that Moscow is interested in but any opportunity to destabilize the situation in Ukraine," he explained. Nikolenko recalled that the Ukrainian delegation had repeatedly stated that the language law is an internal Ukrainian issue the UN Security Council has nothing to do with. "For its part, Ukraine, together with its partners, will use the meeting to raise pressing issues of concern about the Russia-Ukraine conflict, above all the release of Ukrainian sailors and political prisoners, the ongoing shelling in Donbas that continues killing people, as well as Russia's responsibility for the downing of MH17," he said. As UNIAN reported earlier, the UN Security Council on May 20 refused to consider the law on the Ukrainian language at Russia's request. France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Poland, and the United States were against. If you see a spelling error on our site, select it and press

The culture of 'Muscovite Rus' came to form from two heterogeneous sources. The seed of the religious and artistic culture reached Muscovy from southeastern Europe (Byzantium, the Balkans) through Kyiv. On the other hand, the foundation of the political and legal culture came to Muscovy from 'Ulus Jöchi', better known as the Golden Horde. As a result, the Russian "spiritual culture" took the shape of a familiar European facade, behind which a non-European state infrastructure hid.
