When asked what the government should do if Russia commits to cutting gas price for Ukraine in exchange for its GTS, 59.9% of those polled answered that the GTS should remain state-owned in any case, and only the Ukrainian party should run it.
15.2% of those polled say that the GTS should be run by a consortium including Russia, Ukraine and the EU.
12.3% think that the GTS should be handed over or leased to Russian in exchange for a gas discount.
Only 2.7% believe that the government should not be involved in the operation of the Ukrainian GTS, and it should be privatized.
0.2% gave other answers, and 9.8% hesitated.
The survey was held by the Razumkov Centre’s sociological service on April 12-16, 2013. 2,010 people aged over 18 in were surveyed in all regions of Ukraine. The sampling error is 2.3%.
