According to the Webometrics NaUKMA is ranked 2861 out of 21250 Universities worldwide.

"This is the first time that I have seen the NaUKMA in an international university ranking. The Webometrics ranking is not particularly informative, yet still gives some indication about a university´s visibility on the WWW. NaUKMA´s relatively low country rank (i.e. position within Ukraine) of 24 contrasts with most national rankings where NaUKMA usually appears in the top five or, at least, ten. This seems due to, above all, two factors: student & employee numbers, and disciplinary specialization. NaUKMA is a small university (3500 students) specializing in the humanities and social sciences." comments on his Facebook page Andreas Umland, professor of the "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy".

"Webometrics seems to rank, on average, larger universities higher than smaller universities. Obviously, post-Soviet universities that specialize in the natural and technical sciences will do better, as these disciplines where already highly developed before 1991, whereas social sciences were partly absent and the humanities suppressed, in the Soviet period. It is thus logical that Ukraine´s highest ranked university in Webometrics is the large Kyiv Polytechnical Institute," writes Umland.

"For comparison, Russia´s small (6000 students), but most famous social science university, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), has also the relatively low world rank of 1859 and country rank of 30. As in the case of NaUKMA, the performance of MGIMO in national rankings is much better," adds professor.
